Broadway Bound is an auditioned group of elite students ages 8 to 18
that will receive extensive training in vocals, choreography and acting throughout the year with our accomplished staff of qualified theatre practitioners.
Performing Arts Festival
Our company will have the opportunity to make magic happen as we compete at the National Performing Arts Festival. We will join talented young artists from across the globe during this signature theatre event, which combines the best of performances, feedback clinics led by professional actors, and workshops . This annual theatre festival unites young actors, dancers, and singers for days of creativity and inspiration.
Producing Artistic Director
David Lee has served as the Producing Artistic Director at Avenue Arts since the conception of the theatre company in 2017. He has had the pleasure of working with a diverse group of actors including youngsters as the Director of the Young Actors’ Workshop each Fall and Spring. Some of his favorite directorial endeavors include “August: Osage County”, “Cry It Out”, “Next to Normal”, as well as many Young Actors’ Workshop productions, including “Shrek Jr.”, “Willy Wonka, Jr.”, “Annie, Jr.”, and “Seussical, Jr.” David also understands the importance in the development of new works and has formed a company of actors called “Underground” that performs staged readings of new works. David is a Canton native and attended Malone University where he was trained in the Michael Chekhov Technique of acting and received and B.A. in Communication, Visual and Performing Arts.
Alison is 28 years old and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations from Baldwin Wallace. Today, she works for Reliable Ready Mix Co. In the past, you may have seen Alison on the stage in productions such as “Honk! The Musical” (Beaky), “Children of Eden” (Young Cain), “Annie” (Annie), and “Winnie the Pooh” (Piglet).
Company Vocal Director
Lisa studied Vocal Performance at Kent State University and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Strategic Communication from Miami University. She has been directing theatre and vocal coaching since 2003. Lisa currently coaches nearly 40 voice students a week at her home studio in Canton, Ohio. Lisa has taught musical theatre classes in various schools throughout Stark and Tuscarawas counties since 2006, as well as in Holy Cross Catholic Schools, at the Players Guild Theatre, and as a teaching artist for the ArtsInStark SmArts Program
Katy is a native of NE Ohio and has an immense background in dance and theatre. Having grown up in the arts, it was no surprise she pursued it further as she graduated from Cedarville University having studied communications and theatre. Katy continued on at Cedarville as an adjunct professor in the communications department teaching speech, theatre and dance, and received a Day-Tony for her choreography in Cedarville’s production of “Hello, Dolly!”. Although the arts have taken her everywhere from Australia and Europe, Chicago to LA, she is back in NE Ohio teaching and creating choreography for a variety of projects including work at the Carnation City Players, Canton Palace Theatre, Playhouse Square in Cleveland and a variety of school groups in the area. She currently serves as the Events Manager at ArtsInStark and she is the head coach of the speech and debate team at her alma mater, Louisville High School. Katy has also worked in the talent and casting world, having worked on a myriad of shows, including The Voice, MasterChef and Dance Moms.
